Our annual Wine Auction, now in its 15th year, is a partnership with the Rotary Club of Table Bay and contributes significantly to project specific funding. The Auction in its first year raised R16,000 and has seen remarkable growth in 2007, earning R220,000 and bettering this amount in 2008.

Wine Auction proceeds have assisted in the purchase for NSRI (National Sea Rescue Institute) of -

• New rescue crafts for the Bakoven and Kommetjie Rescue Stations;
• New 4x4 support vehicles for Strandfontein, V&A and Melkbosstrand Stations;
• Wet Weather gear, radio, marine and other emergency equipment.

A contribution of R200,000 was also made to the NSRI's Waterwise initiative. 

The event depends greatly on the readiness of sponsors to assist and The Table Bay Hotel (Sun International) and The Wine Cellar deserve particular mention.

As a result of the 2008 Wine Auction efforts,  "Rotary Onwards" was launched at Yzerfontein on May 23rd, 2009.

"Rotary Spirit of the Winelands" (seen below), is the rescue craft launched at Hout Bay in 2008.  The RIB (rigid inflateable boat) bears tribute to the many Wine Estates who also support this project.
