Newlands Rotarians, partners and guests recently gathered at the Wild Fig Restaurant in Observatory to celebrate the induction of President Andy Ismay. President Elect John van Zyl led the proceedings with Barry Wood and Past Presidents Bill, Johan, Jana and Shân all contributing to the evening's activities. President Garth, in his closing address, paid tribute to another successful Newlands year and to the spirit and cameraderie which so much underpins the Club's achievements. He then presented Paul Harris Fellowship to Newlands Rotarians Bill Holland, Roy Zazaraj, Jan Kaars Sijpesteijn, Shân Biesman-Simmons and Janey Ball before turning to his last duty as President, the induction of Andy Ismay for the 2008/9 Rotary year. President Andy in his incoming address set out for the Club his goals for the forthcoming year; he clearly plans to keep Newlands Rotarians on their toes.As the evening drew to a close, Sue Longley-Taylor proposed the Toast to Newlands and her witty poetic delivery summed up an eventful year as Newlands AG.
